Environmental impact:
Sunscreens are killing marine life, and the ingredients are toxic to humans too (http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2008/01/080129-sunscreen-coral.html). Use natural ingredients! What's good for the environment is good for you as well.
Powerful sunblock:
New Zealand has the harshest sun conditions, similar to upper alpine sun. You need the strongest most powerful sunblocks in order to survive your active surfing lifestyle.
Waterproof:
The first batch of Northern Light Sunblock was mixed in 1990. There was no sunblock available at that time which didn't wash off, resulting in the inevitable sunburn. The most 'waterproof' of these had such a frightening list of ingredients that Northern Light employees were reluctant to wear themselves, let alone put it on their baby's skin. Waterproof formulae should resist being dissolved in water. Wax and oil are a natural way to present this waterproof barrier.
Tribal Facepaint:
Traditionally indigenous tribes painted their skin with opaque creams to prevent exposure. Northern Light Zinc Block works as a complete opaque block. The kids like to paint their faces nice and white and are able to go to the beach often. Try the real cocoa (chocolate mousse) zinc block for skin colour cream which totally blocks the sun!
Protection:
Wear a thin layer everyday, for protection from normal levels of UV, and wear a much thicker layer when going surfing or skiing, when reflection doubles the amount of sun on your skin.

- Zinc oxide, which naturally boosts your immunities (no more than 12% )
- Fijian Coconut Oil, which is brimming with vitamin E -- helping to heal and protect your skin, and
- New Zealand Beeswax, known for its healing, preserving, and protective qualities.
